Jaylyn Robotham has taken up an opportunity to test Matt Stone Racing’s ex- Shane Van Gisbergens Triple Eight Commodore at Queensland Raceway on Wednesday 26th June; as part of Push Talent Management’s ‘Accelerate’ program.
Currently competing in the Toyota 86 Series as well as the TA2 Asia Series, Robotham recently came home with a first and third place finish in Thailand on his way to smashing the lap record set by stars including Craig Baird and most recently David Reynolds.
The 16-year old will continue to add experience to his resume when he gets behind the wheel of the Triple Eight Supercar, with the guidance of Matt Stone. For Robotham the opportunity came at the perfect time.
“When John (Director of Push Talent Management) came to us with this opportunity to test a Super2 with MSR, it was a no brainer,” admitted Robotham.
“I have never driven a Supercar before, the closest being the Mustang that I drive in the TA2 Asia Series – but it is still different, so I’m really looking forward to getting out there and giving these cars a crack.
“It’ll be a great experience, having Ash Walsh there to base our times around as well as having the engineers there to go through our data with; I’m really looking forward to it.
“Obviously my goal is to climb the motorsport ranks and the Super2’s are a series that would give me the opportunity to further my experience. I’m obviously mindful of opportunities that arise as I look at pursuing the next phase of my driving career, so I’m grateful to be able to do this test day with MSR.”
