It feels like forever since I’ve been in my Melbourne City Toyota 86!! The last time was at Phillip Island back in April. I can’t wait to get to Townsville this weekend and give it a good red-hot crack!
I have been super busy in-between the Toyota 86 rounds! I had the second round of the TA2 Asia Series at Chang International Circuit – where my teammate Paul Manuell and I managed to come away with a 1st and 3rd place for the weekend, which was awesome. I also managed to break a new lap record, which was kind of cool too!
I also had an amazing opportunity with Matt Stone Racing just two weeks ago and was able to complete a test day in Shane Van Gisbergen’s ex- Triple Eight Commodore. So that was a lot of fun and a great experience! So, I certainly haven’t been shy of wheel time!
Last year was the first time I had competed at Townsville, so I’m really looking forward to getting back there now that I am a bit more familiar with the layout. I really like this style of track – it’s fast flowing, with lots of curbs and proves for some good racing.
Last year I came away with 11th overall for the weekend after getting caught in a little hustle and bustle along the way – so this weekend I’m hoping that I can steer clear of all that and try and qualify further up the grid to give myself a good starting position for the races.
A big thanks to all my sponsors for their continued support – it means a lot. Here’s hoping we can have a great weekend!
Hope to see you there!
