And that’s a wrap of the first round of the Toyota 86 Series at Phillip Island! Friday’s practice sessions we we’re pretty strong, finishing 9thand 5thwhich was really good for us!
Unfortunately in Sunday’s qualifying session the track was a bit damp and I couldn’t get a clear lap in resulting in P25. I knew come race 1 I had some work to do, so I stayed back a bit and ensured I made passes where I could and managed to work my way through the field and finish up in 12th, which was pretty cool.
I was determined for a top 5 finish come Sunday’s race 2, however I copped a hit from behind and the back bumper was rubbing up against the wheel, so that lost us some speed. However, I managed to hold onto 11th.
Race 3 I was able to get a clear run and make a few passes and claimed P6; so it was nice to finish off the weekend on a positive!
I’m currently sitting 6thin the Championship after just the first round which isn’t too bad considering where we qualified.
Round 2 of the Toyota 86 Series will see us take on the streets of Townsville 5 – 7 July!
