Jay Robotham – Newcastle Preview

I’m super pumped to get back into the Toyota 86 this weekend – I obviously missed Bathurst, so Sandown was the last round I was in the car, so it’s been a while. I’m itching to get back out there!

This weekend I’ll be heading to Newcastle, which is a track I’ve never been to before, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what I can do for the final round of the season. I’ve been watching heaps of YouTube footage of what the track looks like, as there’s no simulator track out as yet to practice on. It’s certainly been a bit hard preparing for this weekend, but from what I’ve seen, it looks like it’s going to be a challenging but fun circuit!

I’ve been keeping busy in between rounds – I was given the opportunity to take part in a test day in Thailand with the TA2 Asia Series with my management company, Push Talent Management and also with V8 Supercar driver, David Reynolds. The trip was amazing and it was unbelievable to experience another car – something much, much more powerful! I took away so much from this trip and am so grateful to have been a part of it.

Further to that, last weekend I also participated in the Pat Cronin Foundation ‘Walk to the Valley’ event, of which I am an ambassador for. It was a privilege to be a part of such a great cause. There was a great turn out as we continued to spread awareness of the Coward Punch in hope of ending the cowardly act.

Now my head is focused on tackling the final round of the season for the Toyota 86 Series; I’m currently sitting 6th in the Championship, even after missing Bathurst. Whilst I’m not putting too much pressure on myself ahead of this weekend, I’d love to get a top 5 race finish to end the year on a high. I don’t expect to move too much in the Championship standings, I’m pretty happy with a top 10 finish over all for the season – considering it’s my first year in this series.

I hit the track at Newcastle for practice 1 on Friday 23rd November at 9:40am.

I’d like to give a massive thanks to all my sponsors and followers for your support this year, I wouldn’t be here without you all.
