Well that season has absolutely flown! What a great final round it was at Chang International Circuit, Buriram.
Paul and I managed to roll out really well for both of Friday’s practice sessions, finishing P1 and P2. Come Saturday’s qualifying session Paul qualified first, however was disqualified due to technicality issues which put us at the rear of the grid for the start of race 1.
I managed to qualify second behind Steve Owen for the second qualifying session, however we were disqualified due to the same technicalities that Paul encountered, which put us at the rear of the grid for the start of the final race on Sunday as well.
Race 1 completed the final session of Saturday and although we started from the back of the pack, we managed to fight our way through the field and came away with first position! It was an absolutely mega effort from the team and Paul – it was such a cool feeling to be able to come through the field and finish up first!
Sunday’s final race saw us start from the rear of the grid again, but we were determined to fight our way through. I started the race and managed to pick off a few cars and handed the car over to Paul at the halfway mark in third. We were on the edge of our seats for the final five minutes of the race as Paul had epic battles with second and first position and managed to make the most of Craig Corliss’ mistake in the final laps and was able to steal first position!
Not only did we come away with two podium finishes, but I also finished up second in the TA2 Asia Championship – which I’m pretty happy with considering it was my first season in the Series!
A big thank you to all of my sponsors, supporters and of course the crew and Paul Manuell for a mega season! I couldn’t have done it without you all!
